Crop tops: 2011 fashion trend

While we've been seeing crop tops and bared stomachs on the runway for a good couple of years now, the reality is that it's a trend with little hope of reaching a point of mass consumption any time soon. Why? Simply because we live in a body conscious age where it's only the minority of people daring enough to expose that much skin. That said, spring 2011 will push the trend forwards and further into the mainstream (if not the masses).
As a 2011 fashion trend the crop top is not just about exposing one's whole stomach, but about finding elegant new ways of showing a peep of toned midriff. Yes there's the crop top of the grunge-revival. Yes there's the crop top of the sportswear-as-daywear trend. But there's also the crop top as a sophisticated, refined piece that some will embrace as a look not to be feared. Read on for these examples and more.

The styles on the spring 2011 runways were many and various; from teeny, tiny tops to the smallest hints of skin. To break it down, here are some of the different ways we've seen cropped tops on the runway:

• With elegance: the merest slit along the waistline of a dress, turning it into a two-piece ensemble broken up only by a shallow hint of skin. YSL and Chloe were spring 2011 masters of this subtle take.

Elegantly bared midriff at Yves Saint Laurent, SS11

• Fighting fit with stomach fully bared: Rag & Bone and Ohne Titel brought us sporty examples that are perfectly sexy for those with the confidence to pull them off. These type of cropped tops end just below the bust, and were paired with hipster pants for a revealing end result. You could just as easily substitute the hip-huggers for a high waisted bottom half, though, if you wanted to add some modesty.

• Beneath a sheer layer: adding a layer of transparent fabric is the perfect way to combine the ongoing popularity of the sheer trend with the newness of the exposed midriff.

Unanswered Questions In Erin Andrews Case

On Saturday, October 3, 2009, The FBI arrested insurance salesman, Michael David Barrett, in Chicago, Illinois and charged him with stalking and spying on ESPN sportscaster, Erin Andrews.
Yesterday, according to the Associated Press, the FBI has been unable to match up one of the videos to the correct hotel it was illegally and secretly filmed in, violating Andrews privacy, through a modified peephole. They claim all the other videos were filmed in Nashville, Tennessee.
As stated on the Judiciary report on October 3, 2009, the FBI failed to explain how Michael David Barrett, knew Andrews' schedule well enough, to follow her around, state to state, at different hotels and obtain rooms next to her, to engage in illicit, voyeuristic filming, without permission.
It was initially stated on TMZ, the website Michael David Barrett first offered the criminally filmed nude clips of Andrews, that it was an inside job, pointing the finger at an anonymous person, working at ESPN.
It made sense, as celebrities do not disclose to the general public, which hotels they will be staying in at any time.

If it was not an inside job as TMZ claimed, how was this man able to know such private information, such as the exact location she was staying in different states?
There are so many hotels out there. How did he know which one she would be staying at each time, her room numbers and when she would be there, enabling him to book a suite right next to her on more than one occasion?
Did he commit additional acts of invasion of privacy to obtain her schedule, as this creates quite a hole in this sick story?
Furthermore, did no one notice him standing in front of hotel room doors for an extended period of time, holding a cell phone up to the modified keyhole (to permit illegal filming)?
And speaking of that, did no one notice this man modifying keyholes at different hotels? That does not seem like something one can do in a minute or two.
Why didn't hotel hallway surveillance cameras catch this misconduct?
Why did he not check into a booked hotel room in Milwaukee next to Andrews that also had a modified peephole?
The FBI needs to answer the aforementioned questions.

Insurance man accused of stalking ESPN's Andrews

Asked how Barrett had gotten interested in Andrews, if the allegations are true, or how he managed to get the adjacent hotel rooms, Beuke said he assumed it was not true. Chicago FBI spokesman Ross Rice said he did not know how Barrett allegedly became interested in Andrews.

An FBI affidavit said agents had reviewed eight videos and all but one had appeared to be taken in a single hotel. It said Andrews had reviewed several and said they appeared to be of her in a room at the Marriott Nashville at Vanderbilt University.

Authorities said Barrett had occupied an adjacent room, and that the peephole in the door of Andrews' room appeared to have been modified with a hacksaw to permit videos to be made with a cellphone camera.

4. Eva Mendes is wearing the statement lacey dress with the bow, it is not wearing her. That is the trick ladies, don't let your clothes overwhelm you. Another amazing party dress look that we bet is going to be copied everywhere!

3. Kim Kardashian is a fashion lover from top to toe. This girl is never not working some kind of fierce look, even on the sidewalk! The jacket, the killer boots and the to die for Birkin bag. Its all fabulous!

2. Olivia Wilde was a serious contender for stealing the spotlight on the Golden Globes red carpet. The big sparkly Marchesa balllgown and those amazing shoes were a smash hit, the only issue we had was with the hairdo...all in all though, we couldn't stop looking at her!

1. We don't even think Elle Macpherson tries very hard to look like this. It just comes so naturally for her. She has our eyes popping out almost every morning as she takes the kids to school in one amazing look after another. This was our favorite look of the week, by far!

This weekend at the Golden Globe Awards there were surprisingly few outfits that really stood out and made us go wow...luckily there were other events this past week too and a few stars who made us jealous of their wardrobes just by walking in the street! Take a look!
